What is the price of tricopigmentation?
Tricopigmentation is a non-surgical technique that mimics the look of a closely shaved follicle, and is also used to give the look of density on longer hair. Here we look at tricopigmentation prices, as well as the price of any touch-ups needed in the years after your session. The price of tricopigmentation depends on the zones to be treated and the time the practitioner takes to pigment your scalp.
Prices by zone and needs
To make things clearer, we use the Norwood scale, which rates how advanced male baldness is by dividing the scalp into zones.

Tricopigmentation prices at Sopigment are fairly simple: we offer 4 different quotes, each including 3 tricopigmentation sessions:
Zones 1 to 3: Between €650 and €900 for about 1 hour per session
Zones 1 - 4: €1,500 for about 2 hours per session
Zones 1 - 7: €1,800 for about 2 hours 30 minutes per session
Full head down to the nape: €2,500 for about 4 hours per session
The cost of tricopigmentation for a density effect is the same as for a shaved look, because we price by zone.
Cost of touch-ups and long-term maintenance
At Sopigment, tricopigmentation touch-ups cost €300 for a standard session and €450 for a full head.
If the area is smaller, we can give a price on a case-by-case basis.
Factors that affect prices
On average, tricopigmentation can last about 2 years, but this varies with the person, skin type and sun exposure. This is mainly because the pigment sits in the dermis, the upper layer of the skin, and skin cells renew constantly. We therefore advise a touch-up from that point. Some factors can speed up fading, especially long sun exposure without sun protection or poorly hydrated skin.
As a general rule, tricopigmentation prices can vary from one clinic to another. The factors that determine a price are: the cost of equipment, the location, the area to be treated and the practitioner’s experience.
At Sopigment, we were fortunate to be among the first to develop https://www.sopigment.fr/, drawing on more than 12 years of experience in this field; our team has practised tricopigmentation for many years, which allows us to support our clients with recognised expertise in the field.

Contraindications and precautions
Some factors must be taken into account before starting your tricopigmentation sessions. During your consultation, and also in our terms and conditions, we state that you must be in good health. Some situations may require medical advice beforehand (for example pregnancy or heavy medical treatment). We recommend discussing this with a healthcare professional if you have any doubts.
It is important to have a healthy scalp: if you have psoriasis, for example, make sure it is being treated before you come. Long periods of intense sun exposure before your sessions should also be avoided. Minors must be accompanied by their parents. Being transparent is therefore important, in your interest and ours, which is why we prefer a free consultation before confirming your tricopigmentation sessions.
Tricopigmentation vs scalp micropigmentation: what is the price difference?
There is no real difference between scalp micropigmentation and tricopigmentation. The term ‘Trico’ means hair in Greek, and the word is said to have been
coined in Italy by a micropigmentation company to set itself apart from its competitors. In principle, Tricopigmentation is said to be a semi-permanent solution that disappears completely after 1 year.
From our experience with many clients, we have seen that the ink fades but does not disappear completely, just like scalp micropigmentation. The company is said to have developed its own equipment, which places the pigments in the epidermis. The problem is that how temporary it is depends not only on the machine settings, but also very much on the pressure applied by the practitioner. In both cases, the pressure must be much lighter than for a classic tattoo (other than dots), because if too much pressure is put on the needle, the client will end up with large dots on their head. Because of this lighter pressure, for obvious aesthetic reasons, the pigment must sit in the upper layer of the skin.
In both cases, a touch-up is usually needed after about 2 years, as the pigment can fade over time. At Sopigment, we use both terms.
Is it reimbursed? Possible financial help
In France, tricopigmentation for men and women is not reimbursed by social security: the CPAM (French national health insurance) currently considers this procedure a cosmetic treatment and therefore does not recognise the medical aspect of hair loss.
Some top-up health insurance policies sometimes offer partial cover for cosmetic treatments. This depends on the policy and should be checked directly with your insurer.
To sum up, the price of tricopigmentation at Sopigment ranges from €300 to €2,500. We set our prices according to the zones to be treated, and therefore the time we spend pigmenting your scalp. Feel free to ask us for a detailed quote by sending photos of your hair loss to find out more!
